1978 - The opening
new airport
As early as in the 50s and 60s there was discussions going on about a new airport, either in the central of Örebro or outside of the city. Today´s airport opened up for traffic in 1978 out on the fields of Täby. The runway equalled a total of 1 300 meters - today we have a runway an extended runway about to open at 3 300 meters. At the first year of operations, there was 1 500 passengers travelling from Örebro. In 2017 we had over 100 000 travellers going out from our airport.
